After the NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints had a surplus of players in their roster. In order to adjust appropriately, the team was in position to move off of some fringe pieces.
After releasing wide receiver Samori Toure Monday morning, New Orleans made two more roster moves to cut down their player count.
Per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints have also released wide receiver Elijah Cooks and running back Evan Hull.
Both players were among the late additions New Orleans made last year when injury struck the skill positions. They continue the last-in-first-out trend sparked with the release of Toure.
New Orleans came out of the draft with three wide receivers, bringing their roster total up to 14 at the position. Hull was added last season when the team was down multiple running backs. Now that the position is healthy and running backs Travis Etienne Jr. and CJ Donaldson have been added this offseason, the running back room has reached its limit.
