Saints WR Shaheed returns to practice

By Ross Jackson
METAIRIE, La. — A much needed boost for the New Orleans Saints offense looks to be on the way as promised. Wide receiver Rashid Shaeed was participating in practice for the first time this week. He did return at a limited capacity on Thursday. However today was the first time while dealing with his hip injury that he was actively participating during the open portion of practice. A step in the right direction for the Saints’ offense. But that may be where the progress ends.
Here is the attendance from the portion of practice open to Saints media:
Not Seen:
QB Derek Carr (Oblique)
S Will Harris Jr. (Hamstring)
TE Taysom Hill (Rib)
LB Pete Werner (Hamstring)
G Cesar Ruiz (Knee)
C/G Lucas Patrick (Chest)
Returned:
WR Rashid Shaheed (Hip)
While Shaheed looks to be on his way back, as he said would be the case during his media availability on Thursday afternoon, a few other key pieces have not made their way back to the field yet.
Hill remains out, along with Ruiz and Patrick, two important interior offensive linemen. And Werner remains out after a late-week practice injury sidelined him last week.
Each of those players have some impact potential that will be missed as rookie Spencer Rattler gets his debut start on Sunday.
