Phil Steele’s LSU-Ole Miss Prediction

Every Friday, college football expert Phil Steele joins “After Further Review” with Matt Moscona to preview the biggest games of the college football weekend. Here is Phil’s prediction on LSU vs. Ole Miss:
I think when I look at the two teams, there’s no doubt that the offenses are both potent and defensively you got to give the edge to Ole Miss. I mean, you look at Ole Miss’s rush D, they’re giving up 1.8 yards per carry. They got 23 sacks this year. So they clearly have the advantage there. But I think LSU has some outstanding advantages in this game. One would be the home field edge. They’re a great home dog, it’s at night in Death Valley. The second would be that the home team has absolutely dominated this series. I believe it’s 11-1 in the last 12, the home team has covered. So you like that. And as you mentioned, it’s been a long time since Ole Miss has won here. And then the other factor, LSU was fresh off a bye and Ole Miss is actually playing a seventh straight game. And it’s their second straight SEC road game. So all those factors say the intangibles are with LSU. And they’re the home dog. They’re getting 3 1/2 here. I like LSU to pull the upset this week and get the win at home at Death Valley.
