Midway through a football season injuries are always going to become a storyline.
LSU and Arkansas are each dealing with injuries to starters as their Week 7 matchup approaches. Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green left the Hogs’ win over Tennessee with a knee injury. Last week head coach Sam Pittman said the quarterback avoided structural damage to his knee but was in some pain with a bone bruise.
After the bye week, Pittman provided another update Wednesday.
“I have been encouraged about how he’s practiced,” Pittman said. “He’s still not full speed yet. But we certainly think there’s a possibility he can get there. We’ll have to wait and see. We have two more practices and a (walkthrough), but I have been encouraged about his progression this week.
For LSU, it’s wide receiver where the injury bug his bitten hardest. Chris Hilton has not played this season, and head coach Brian Kelly ‘s update on Wednesday echoed the sentiments of the last three weeks.
“Chris was able to some individual work,” Kelly said. “His is a day-to-day situation, so he’s still questionable. But we’re trending in the right direction there.”
Senior CJ Daniels did not play versus Ole Miss because of a meniscus injury, but Kelly appeared optimistic about his return Saturday.
“Daniels practiced and looked good. So, I would say we’re probably going to list him as probable for Saturday.”
Kickoff at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium is set for 6:00 Saturday night.
