Senior left guard Garrett Dellinger will miss LSU’s matchup with Alabama on Saturday night.

Dellinger suffered a high ankle sprain in the Texas A&M loss.

“He had a tightrope surgery, so we will be out for this weekend’s game against Alabama,” said LSU Head Coach Brian Kelly who continued later. “We’re expecting him to have a solid chance (to return) for Florida.”

Dellinger, who has started 30 games in his four seasons at LSU, was replaced by redshirt freshman Paul Mubenga in College Station. Mubanga did not see any game action as a true freshman in 2023. He has played in five games this year.

“Paul has steadily worked himself up into what I would call a key backup, somebody that is poised to go in in a pivotal time, and you expect him to get the job done,” Kelly said. “Now he’s a starter for us most likely for at least this week. I think he’s made his most progress through his execution. He’s a quick study. You don’t have to tell him twice. He understands our scheme. This has been about the physical development of Paul more so than it has been about his mental abilities.”

The LSU offensive line has allowed the second fewest sacks in the country, just four in eight games.

LSU and Alabama will kick off at 6:30 Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
