The latest AP Men’s Top 25 Poll has been released, and just like football season it is littered with SEC teams throughout.
There was no change at the top with Tenenssee and Auburn manning the top two spots. Behind them is where the conference’s strength really showed. Five SEC teams were featured in the top seven overall with Kentucky at No. 4, Alabama at No. 6 and Florida at No. 7.
Outside of the top ten, three more teams from the conference were included with Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss garnering spots at No. 12, 14, and 17, respectively.
We see this every year in the SEC for football and baseball, but half the league being ranked in the top 20 for basketball is wild. Some prognosticators think the league could get as many as 13 teams in the NCAA tournament. The SEC has not won a national title since Kentucky in 2012.
