Carson Beck’s season–and possibly his Georgia career–is over.
The Bulldogs quarterback underwent successful surgery Monday on his elbow that was injured in the SEC Championship game earlier this month against Texas. The Georgia football program confirmed the news in a statement released Monday afternoon.
“Georgia quarterback Carson Beck underwent successful surgery Monday on his right elbow to repair his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), performed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, Ca,” the statement shared. “A full recovery is expected with throwing to begin spring of 2025.”
Gunner Stockton will replace Beck for N0. 2 Georgia’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal matching against No. 7 Notre Dame in the Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Day.
Beck is a redshirt senior who has started for Georgia the past two seasons. He could return to Athens for a sixth season in 2025 or he could delcare for the NFL Draft. ESPN Draft analyst Mel Kiper, Jr. ranks Beck as the fourth-best quarterback in this class.
On the season, Beck has thrown for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Beck had led Georgia to a 24-3 record during his two seasons at the helm.
Stockton played the entirie second half of the SEC Championship Game, completing 12-of-16 passes for 71 yards and an interception. It was only the third time this season Stockton has seen game action.
