LSU’s search for an offensive tackle addition via the transfer portal continues. Montana State tackle Conner Moore has picked Michigan State over a host of interested schools, including LSU.

Sources told LouisianaSports.net that the Tigers staff was working to get Moore to visit Baton Rouge. Instead, the former FCS Freshman All American will play for the Spartans. The Ohio native visited Cincinnati and canceled a visit with Ohio State.

Moore redshirted in 2022 before starting all 12 games at left tackle in 2023. This season, he started three games at left guard before playing the remainder of the season as left tackle.

Montana State lost the FCS national championship game to North Dakota State, 35-32.

On Dec. 21, Brian Kelly told reporters in Baton Rouge while discussing the transfer portal class, “There will be some more work on the offensive line and maybe on the back end of our defense.”

LSU has added Northwestern transfer Josh Thompson who projects as a guard. The Tigers are losing four starters from this year’s offensive line, returning only center DJ Chester. In addition to Thompson, LSU has added Virginia Tech center Braelin Moore in this portal cycle.

While the transfer portal window has closed, players have five days after their team’s final game to enter the portal. Penn State and Texas players have until Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, to enter the portal. With Notre Dame and Ohio State meeting for the national title, players for the Irish and Buckeyes will have until Jan. 25 to test the portal waters.
