Aaron Glenn now available after Lions upset loss

NEW ORLEANS — After an unexpectedly early postseason exit following a 45-31 loss to the Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glen is now available to take a job.  

Starting Monday, candidates that are no longer competing in the playoffs can interview in-person with teams looking to hire their next head coach. Glenn is expected to be a front-runner for the New Orleans Saints head coach role, and Saturday’s loss may have just worked in the Saints’ favor. 

Many will write Glenn off because the Commanders hung 45 points on his defense with a rookie quarterback. But Glenn’s projection as a head coach is expected to outperform his coordinator status on the defensive side. 

His leadership and culture-building acumen are likely to still sell his potential as the leader of an organization. 

Glenn and the Saints already conducted a virtual interview last week. Expect him to be an early in-person interview for the team as they look to draw on their connection with him as a former defensive backs coach with the organization.
