METAIRIE, La. — Beyond the loss on the scoreboard, the New Orleans Saints may have also suffered a loss or two on their roster during their game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen met with the local media on Monday and provided some health updates after a few players left Sunday’s Week 8 loss early with injury.

One of those players, tight end Juwan Johnson, was taken out of the game in the second half to be evaluated for a concussion

Because the evaluation took place so late in the game, an update had not been provided. Allen’s update a day later was the first touch point on the matter, and it sounds like this checked out well.

“(The concussion) was asymptomatic today when he came in,” Allen said. “So he’s cleared and good to go.”

Allen explained that, because Johnson was checked during the game, that evaluation process continued on Monday back at the team facility. So, while the tight end was not in a typical concussion protocol setting, there was still an extra step that allowed Johnson to be fully cleared.

The Saints are managing a couple of other injuries from Sunday’s game as well. Cornerback Marshon Lattimore and running back Kendre Miller both suffered hamstring injuries. Lattimore’s, per Allen, was the same that sidelined him in last week’s game against the Broncos. Miller’s sounds like it is on the opposite leg from the injury that kept him out of training camp.

New Orleans also saw rookie wide receiver Bub Means leave with an ankle injury. Allen clarified that his injury is a high ankle sprain. That may lead to extended time missed from the fifth-round selection.
