If you are a responsible adult, you may have missed this.

Most people with 9-5 “real jobs”, as my stepdad calls them every year at Thanksgiving, tend to not see the ongoings of social media throughout the workday. Luckily for me, I have a job in social media and thumbing through the cesspool of Twitter and Instagram news and comments is technically my job.

Today was an eventful one in the small pockets of SEC social media echo chambers. Fans of teams on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff were at metaphorical war over which team deserves to be in between Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss.

Now keep in mind none of this may matter at all if Clemson beats SMU or if the committee decides a three-loss team in general doesn’t deserve to be in. Luckily our friends in Las Vegas may have given us a peek behind the current for what’s eventually to come.

As of Monday afternoon, Fan Duel’s Sportsbook updated its odds on the over/under of SEC Teams to make the College Football Playoff with the over of 3.5 teams at -400 and the under of 3.5 teams at +285. They also moved the odds of Alabama’s chances to make the playoff from +100 to -186.

Hopefully this is just a move to entice bettors from the sportsbook, but Vegas is rarely wrong. We’ll find out more on Tuesday night when the committee unveils their latest rankings if the writing is starting to be on the proverbial wall.
