Brian Kelly updates Chris Hilton’s status

Chris Hilton’s 2024 debut has been pushed back week after week.
The junior wide receiver injured his foot late in training camp and has not been able to rejoin the team on the field. Two weeks ago, head coach Brian Kelly called Hilton probable on Thursday, but Hilton did not dress out two days later versus South Alabama.
Hilton’s four years in Baton Rouge have been plagued by injuries, costing him playing time as well as the opportunity for development. The Zachary native enjoyed an excellent fall camp and was set be one of LSU’s top targets in a dynamic passing game.
That hasn’t been the case.
“This is the first year that it’s really been a missing piece, if you will,” Kelly said. “It’s been a complicated injury.”
Kelly didn’t stop there. He was sure to laud Hilton’s work ethic and determination to return to the field.
“Let’s get the record straight, Chris has done everything to get back as quickly as possible,” he said. “We’ve done scans. We’ve done MRIs, and the healing has just been slow. If he had the proper healing and was ready to go, he’s put in the time, and he has the want to to be out there.
“This has been one of those unusual injuries that has taken so much longer to heal than normal. But we’re going to get him back out there, and when he does, I’m certain that he’s going to be a welcome addition to our offense.”
