Bucs headed to New Orleans ahead of Milton
10/07/2024
It isn’t often that New Orleans becomes an evacuation destination.
But for the New Orleans Saints’ next opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, that is indeed the case.
Per several reports, the Buccaneers are planning to head to the Big Easy a little earlier than is typical for a Sunday matchup. Usually, teams would travel on Saturday for these games. However, with Hurricane Milton bearing down on Florida from the Gulf of Mexico, Tampa will hit the road on Tuesday and move their game week prep to New Orleans. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first on the news.
NOLA.com’s Jeff Duncan provided further information regarding where the Buccaneers will hold practice throughout the week. Per Duncan, the team will be set up at Tulane University’s Yulman Stadium. The Saints held a preseason open practice at the same venue earlier this year before their final exhibition game.
Milton has quickly become a category four hurricane and is expected to make landfall in the middle of the week. The Buccaneers are getting ahead of things from a travel perspective.
These are tough situations for NFL players. They have to focus on their game prep in another city while their minds will certainly be with their families and those close to them at home. The Saints certainly know this feeling all-too-well.
