Bucs safety Whitehead unavailable against Saints after car accident

By Ross Jackson
One day before the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the New Orleans Saints, one of the Bucs’ top safeties is being moved to the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list.
Tampa safety Jordan Whitehead was involved in an auto accident on Saturday, Tampa Bay Times Bucs beat writer Rick Stroud reported. The team also announced that he will not be available for Sunday’s game against the Saints as a result.
Per the team, Whitehead’s accident took place as he was on his way to the facility. His injuries are not detailed, but they are clearly substantial enough for him to be moved to the NFI list.

The Bucs announced they will sign safety Ryan Neal from their practice squad to the active roster to help with a short-handed secondary.
Fellow defensive backs Antoine Winfield Jr. and Jamel Dean were both also ruled out in Friday’s injury report.
