CANCELED: LSU and Grambling called off for weather

LSU can now focus on Arkansas.

The final midweek game of the season, a contest with Grambling out of the SWAC, has been canceled due to the forecast. With just one more week left in the regular season and LSU traveling to South Carolina for a Thursday start next week, the game will not be made up.

While the cancellation is disappointing for fans anticipating more baseball, for LSU’s NCAA Tournament prospects, it’s probably a positive. Grambling holds an RPI of No. 276 out of 307 teams. A win for LSU hurts strength of schedule and could be an RPI burden. A loss would be even more damaging.

LSU currently sports an RPI of No. 9, just outside the coveted top eight slots.

LSU finishes the season 12-1 in midweek matchups and will play the penultimate SEC series beginning Friday when Arkansas visits Alex Box Stadium.
