Carr Practice 2

METAIRIE, La – The New Orleans Saints and Washington Commanders have released their final injury reports with game designations for Sunday’s matchup. The Saints will be starting second-year quarterback Jake Haener, but veteran passer Derek Carr could potentially be available as the team’s backup.

Here is the information from Friday’s final injury report:

New Orleans Saints

Out:

WR Bub Means (Ankle)

LB D’Marco Jackson (Ankle)

Doubtful:

QB Derek Carr (Left Hand/Concussion)

Questionable:

DL Tanoh Kpassagnon (Achilles)

No Designation (Good to go):

RB Alvin Kamara (Illness)

TE Juwan Johnson (Foot)

Carr will have to be elevated to questionable on Saturday in order to be the team’s No. 2 quarterback on game day. He will have to participate in Saturday’s walkthrough in order to pass concussion protocol. So there is a real chance that Carr is active and the second passer on gameday this weekend. But otherwise, this game’s’ quarterback reps will be going to Haener.

Kamara has no injury designation which means he will be good to go this weekend. He’ll face the NFL’s No. 27 rushing defense while just 62 rushing yards shy of his first career 1,000-yard rushing season. The Saints will need as much production as they can get from their backfield this week with a first-time starter under center.

Washington Commanders

Out:

WR Noah Brown (Kidney)

Questionable:

WR Jamison Crowder (Calf)

K Zane Gonzalez (Left Foot)

DT Daron Payne (Back)

No Designation (Good to go):

TE Zach Ertz (Hamstring/NIR-Rest)

DE Clelin Ferrell (Knee/NIR-Rest)

S Quan Martin (Shoulder)

OLB Dante Fowler Jr. (Groin)

CB Noah Igbinoghene (Thumb)

CB Marshon Lattimore (Hamstring)

LB Jordan Magee (Elbow)

The newest development for the Commanders comes from their defensive line. Defensive tackle Daron Payne was added to the report with a back injury that now threatens his availability for this weekend’s game. That will be a big name to watch up until kickoff. The Commanders have already struggled in run defense and could now lose an important piece in the trenches. The Saints rushing attack was not able to take advantage of that last week with the New York Giants losing interior defender Dexter Lawrence. They could have another notable advantage up front this weekend.

Lattimore is set to make his Commanders debut against his former team.

“They traded me away,” he told Washington media on Friday. “I’m going back to show why they shouldn’t have.”

The cornerback clearly has some extra motivation going into this game.
