Carr out against Raiders, Rattler to make fifth start

By Ross Jackson
The New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders have released their final injury report with game designations. The Saints will be turning to rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler for his fifth NFL start of his inaugural season. And they’ll be doing so again without their starting offensive line.
Here are the game designations for Sunday’s game:
New Orleans Saints
Out:
QB Derek Carr (Left Hand)
RB Alvin Kamara (Groin)
LG Lucas Patrick (Knee)
C Erik McCoy (Elbow)
Questionable:
WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Chest)
WR Chris Olave (Head)
CB Rico Payton (Illness)
DT Nathan Shepherd (Eye)
No Game Designation (Good To Go):
TE Juwan Johnson (Foot)
DE Payton Turner (Ankle)
Despite a valiant attempt, Carr and Kamara won’t make it back to the field this weekend. But it looks like Rattler could have one of his wide receiver weapons back. While Olave feels like a long shot, Valdes-Scantling is trending in the right direction despite being limited all week.
Expect veteran offensive linemen Shane Lemieux and Landon Young to start at center and left guard respectively with McCoy and Patrick ruled out.
Payton was added in Friday as the illness that has been running its course in the Saint locker room continues.
Las Vegas Raiders
Out:
G Jordan Meredith (Ankle)
No Game Designation (Good To Go):
K’Lavon Chaisson (Foot)
RB Dylan Laube (illness)
LB Kana’i Muaga (Calf)
G Jackson Powers-Johnson (Quadricep/Ankle)
CB Nate Hobbs (Illness)
The Raiders may have a shuffle on their offensive line as well. It’s likely that with Meredith out, Powers-Johnson could move from center to left guard while the Raiders plug in another center.
Chaisson is playing for a long-term deal with his new team. He’ll be one to watch against the Saints’ hampered offensive line.
