Cowboys interview Saints assistant for same position

MOBILE, Ala. — Another New Orleans Saints assistant is set to interview elsewhere ahead of the team’s head coach decision.
With a new leader soon on the way in New Orleans, the Saints have been allowing a lot of their offensive coaching talent to look into new opportunities. The latest on the list is now running backs coach Derrick Foster.
Per ESPN Dallas Cowboys reporter Todd Archer, the Saints coach interviewed with the Cowboys for the same position.
The Cowboys have interviewed New Orleans Saints RBs coach Derrick Foster for the same position on Brian Schottenheimer’s staff, according to sources. He also coached with the Chargers, overseeing Austin Ekeler’s rise.

Since the move would be a lateral change for Foster, New Orleans could have blocked the interview. Their decision to allow the interview is not out of the ordinary for the way things have been handled this season.
Former offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak accepted the same position with the Seattle Seahawks. Saints quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko is expected to interview with Seattle as well. Foster is the next.
On the defensive side of the ball, linebackers coach Michael Hodges made a lateral leap to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The majority of these moves happening on the offensive side of the ball may suggest that the team’s upcoming hire has a clear vision for their offensive staff. The changes keep coming for New Orleans, and only more will be on the way.
