Derek Stingley Jr. earns AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Derek Stingley Jr.’s ascent to one of the top cover men in the NFL earned an accolade on Wednesday.
For his two interception, two tackle for loss game against the Miami Dolphins, Stingley was named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week.
The former LSU Tiger has been as good a cover cornerback as there is in the NFL this season. According to Pro Football Focus, since Week 10 Stingley has the highest coverage grade in the NFL (90.1). He’s picked off four passes and only allowed five first downs.
The Texans have clinched the AFC South and will be a playoff team next month.
