Now that Super Bowl LIX is in the books, the city of New Orleans turns its attention from playing host to waiting for its next coach.

The New Orleans Saints are expected to hire Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator Kellen Moore in the coming days. The hire is likely to take place this week, but sources told LouisianaSports.net that Moore would get the opportunity to travel home to Philadelphia first to celebrate the big win with his Eagles players and coaching staff.

All expectations are that Moore will soon accept the Saints head coach position.

So much so that Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie made it known in a postgame exchange with Yahoo! Sports senior NFL reporter Jory Epstein.

Per Epstein, Lurie is bracing for Moore’s departure despite the emphatic championship victory, based on their exchange.

“I do,” Lurie answered. “Unfortunately, we’re gonna have to wish him the very best with New Orleans.”

By the sound of it, head coach Nick Sirianni’s explicit plea to run things back in Philadelphia with Moore won’t be enough to keep the offensive play caller from heading back to the Big Easy as the head coach of the Saints.

The hire could not be made official until after the conclusion of the Super Bowl. Now that the game is behind them, things should begin to move and finalize soon.
