Erik McCoy among inactives for Saints
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Saints have announced their inactives ahead of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. The biggest question of Week 13 for New Orleans was whether or not starting center Erik McCoy would be available after not practicing throughout the week. The Saints have made their choice on the game time decision.
Here are the Saints’ inactives:
QB Spencer Rattler (3rd QB)
RB Jordan Mims
LB Jaylan Ford
OL Lucas Patrick (Ankle)
C Erik McCoy (Groin)
WR Mason Tipton
DT Khristian Boyd
Without McCoy and Patrick, the Saints are again without two of their top five offensive linemen. Second-year guard Nick Saldiveri will be at left guard for Patrick while veteran lineman Shane Lemieux is likely to start at center.
Another player that was listed as questionable coming into the game will play however, running back Jamaal Williams. With Mims inactive, that should mean that WIlliams will help to keep the Saints’ run game going along with running back Alvin Kamara and tight end Taysom Hill.
Tipton is again inactive this week, opening the door for wideouts Kevin Austin Jr. and Dante Pettis, who will be standard game day elevations, to contribute both on special teams and in the passing game.
