Ewers officially named starter in Red River Rivalry

The cloud of uncertainty in Austin heading into Saturday’s Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma has metaphorically lifted.
Steve Sarkisian announced Thursday that junior quarterback Quinn Ewers would indeed be the starter on Saturday against arch-rival Oklahoma.
“Quinn is gonna start Saturday,” Steve Sarkisian said while speaking to media members on Thursday. “That one’s the easy answer.”
Ewers injured his oblique in week three against UTSA, and backup Arch Manning has stepped in to fill his place. This is the third straight season that Ewers has missed multiple games with an injury. Luckily, the meat of the schedule is still in front of Texas. That starts on Saturday as the No. 1 ranked Longhorns head to Dallas as a 14-point favorite over the Sooners.
Through two and a half games Ewers completed over 73 percent of his passes for 691 yards and eight touchdowns.
