Ewers questionable per Sarkisian

Texas QB Quinn Ewers is considered questionable for Saturday’s game against Mississippi State according to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.
Sarkisian insisted that Ewers was doing better but he would need to continue to show signs of improvement before being upgraded for the game against Mississippi State this Saturday.
“He’s got to do enough to show me he can play,” Sarkisian said. “Can he execute the game plan? I kind of need to see how he responds from today’s work, and then what it looks like on a Tuesday, then a Wednesday, which are pretty heavy days for him, and then how he rebounds on Thursday.”
Ewers suffered an abdominal strain two weeks ago against UTSA and was replaced by freshman Arch Manning. Manning has accounted for seven touchdowns since replacing Ewers and was even included in the latest Heisman odds from BetOnline at 50/1.
The schedule is favorable for Texas while Ewers recovers. They played Louisiana-Monroe last week, have Mississippi State this week, and are on a bye October 5 before back-to-back games against Oklahoma and Georgia.
