Five SEC Players who increased their draft stock at the Senior Bowl

Senior Bowl week in Mobile, Alabama has been one of the most fun offseason events of the pre-draft process for years now. It’s incredibly fun and accessible for media and fans throughout the week. More importantly, it’s a phenomenal four to five days that can help players get in front of scouts, future employers, and people that could change their lives forever. Just last year, ten first round draft picks participated in the week in Mobile. 

Here’s a look at five SEC Players who helped their draft stock this week, in no particular order.

1. Jackson Dart, QB – Ole Miss 

It feels like a universally shared opinion that Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders will be the top two players drafted at the quarterback position. Neither player made the trip for Senior Bowl week. However, the crop of quarterback talent was still deep with Jalen Milroe and Riley Leonard participating. 

Perhaps he benefited from performing alongside Jalen Milroe, capitalizing on his strengths while exposing Milroe’s weaknesses. Regardless, he did a tremendous job and is now being mentioned as a potential third quarterback to be selected.

2. Emery Jones, OL – LSU 

Emery Jones had a phenomenal day on Wednesday. He didn’t shy away from competition and ESPN’s Louis Riddick made the comment during their broadcast that he was taking names and was an off the charts football player.

Jones played right tackle in college but could develop into an interior offensive lineman at the next level. Jones was projected as a first rounder in way too early mock drafts multiple times during the season. He may not go on day one, but he’s a name that would be a solid day two pick for several NFL teams. 

3. Shemar Stewart, DL – Texas A&M 

Shemar Stewart had a phenomenal week in Mobile. He was the highest graded player at any position over the first two days of practice. At 6-foot-5, 280 pounds he has the size to play multiple positions across the defensive line. He was great against the run this season, but showed all week that he can be an elite prospect off the edge, as well. 

4. TJ Sanders, DL – South Carolina 

Sanders’ week was cut short in Mobile as he got nicked up with a minor injury. However, he made great use of his time there. Sanders finished his 2024 season with four sacks and seven tackles for loss from the defensive tackle position. That production, combined with what he showed on the first two days of Senior Bowl week, moved him all the way up to No. 42 on Daniel Jeremiah’s Top 50 Draft Prospects Big Board.

5. Mason Taylor, TE – LSU 

Mason Taylor is incredibly impressive to watch on the field. He finished his career at LSU with the most receiving yards of any tight end in program history. However, as good as he is on the field, he may be even better off of it. Taylor continues to be one of the most likable players in this draft class and impossible not to root for. 

Taylor is only 20 years old, but his pre-draft comparison is of longtime NFL veteran Zach Ertz, as some think he will be ready day one and should have a long career at the next level.
