Matthews becomes the 18th Vols player to enter the portal and eighth since the team’s College Football Playoff loss to Ohio State last week. The true freshman is also the sixth receiver to enter the portal, leaving Tennessee with only two returning scholarship pass catchers. The Vols did add three receviers in the 2025 high school signing class.
Injury cost Matthews the start to his season, but he played in 11 games, recording seven catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
Josh Heupel’s squad has only added one transfer so far in this cycle, offensive lineman Wendell Moe, Jr., from Arizona.
