Florida has officially promoted Russ Callaway to offensive coordinator, elevating him from his co-offensive coordinator role, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Callaway has been on the Gators staff since 2022 and has been a part of the on-field coaching staff since 2023. Over the past two years, he served as the tight ends coach and took on co-offensive coordinator duties during the 2024 season.

Callaway was previously on-staff at Alabama, LSU, and the New York Giants. He is also the son of former longtime SEC coordinator and coach, Neil Callaway. Despite being just 37, this will be Callaway’s second stint as an offensive coordinator at the collegiate level. He was also the offensive coordinator at FCS Samford from 2016-2019.

Callaway aims to revitalize a Gators offense that ranked 11th in the SEC in scoring and failed to crack the top nine in rushing, passing, or total offense. However, Florida returns one of the nation’s top young quarterbacks in DJ Lagway, providing a strong foundation for improvement.
