Former Texas wide receiver Johntay Cook is once again looking for a new home. Cook announced he would sit out the rest of the 2024 season in early November and enter the transfer portal.
He then transferred to Washington. However, as of Wednesday morning he is reportedly no longer with the team.
Cook was a five star out of high school and played in both his first two seasons in Austin. However, reports from within the program suggested that the split between Cook and the team had been in the works for some time during the season. He spent less than one month at Washington following the December transfer portal window.
On the year, Cook had eight catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot, 185 lbs. sophomore was a member of the 2023 recruiting class. Not only was Cook a five star, but he was also the No. 3 ranked wide receiver in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite.
