Former LSU safety Greg Brooks suing LSU

Former safety Greg Brooks is suing LSU and others as a result of the medical attention he received during the 2023 football season, according to a report from Ross Dellenger of Yahoo! Sports.
Brooks reportedly began to feel symptoms at preseason practice. His attorney alleges, among other things, that LSU’s coaching staff urged him to continue to practice or that his spot on the depth chart would be in jeopardy.
As symptoms worsened, further testing was done, and it was determined that Brooks had a “pediatric tumor,” normally a cancerous growth that occurs in children. Surgery was performed by Dr. Brandon Gaynor of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical center.
Gaynor is also being sued by Brooks and his legal team for “acts of malpractice”.
According to Dellinger’s reporting, Brooks still cannot walk or use his right hand and has considerable difficulty speaking.
The football program decided to put Brooks’s No. 3 on the field and helmet decals for the team’s home game against Arkansas and then honored Gaynor during halftime of the Florida game for his work.
Brooks’s attorney alleges that “further exacerbated Greg’s considerable emotional distress.”
Neither LSU nor Our Lady of the Lake commented on the ongoing legal matter. The Brooks family also declined comment to Yahoo!
