After a week of departures via the transfer portal, LSU now has an arrival.

Former Oklahoma tight end Bauer Sharp has committed to the Tigers.

Sharp spent three seasons at Southeastern Louisiana before transferring to Oklahoma in 2024. The 6-foot-4, 243 lbs., Sharp caught 42 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns for the Sooners in 2024. Oklahoma finished the season as the worst passing offense in the SEC.

“He’s a talented player, but he’s got physicality, especially in the run game,” Kelly said of Sharp. “If you watch him closely, some of the things they did with him in the passing game, we’ve seen from other tight ends. If you really look at the body of work, it’s the physicality in the run game. Pulling, blocking tackles, out on the perimeter. Love his physicality in the run game. Still, he’s a very good athlete. Came in as a quarterback to Southeastern Louisiana and has the ability to do some things for us in the passing game as well.”

After Mason Taylor’s declaration for the NFL Draft and Ka’Morreun Pimpton’s departure to the transfer portal, LSU had only Trey’Dez Green at the tight end position. Green spent the second half of 2024 working at wide receiver. Incoming freshman JD LaFluer will bolster the depth as well.
