One former Tiger will replace another.

Days following defensive line coach Bo Davis’s departure from LSU for the New Orleans Saints, reports have surfaced that former Tiger Kyle Williams has accepted the position.

LousianaSports.net has confirmed the reports. Williams interviewed for the job on Wednesday and accepted it Thursday, sources confirmed. He was not part of the initial wave of candidates we reported earlier this week.

Williams starred at LSU from 2002-2005, helping the Tigers to the 2003 national title. He was an All-American and became a fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2006. He played his entire 13-year NFL career with Buffalo, making six Pro Bowls and making the All-Pro second team in 2010.

Williams has been the defensive coordinator at Ruston High School, his alma mater since 2020. This will be his first collegiate coaching position.

This will reunite Williams with rising sophomore defensive tackle Ahmad Breaux who played at Ruston as a part of Wiliams’s defense.

Breaux joined Matt Moscona on After Further Review in March of 2023 and had this to say about Williams.

“Coach Kyle has taught me more about being a man than anything,” Breaux said. “Bringing high energy to whatever you do, especially on the field. And, ultimately, not giving in to what your body wants to do which is to quit when things get hard. I really developed that since I stepped on campus with him.”
