Playing without their top two quarterbacks for much of the evening, Florida still managed to put a scare into No. 2 Georgia.

In the end, Georgia scored a, 34-20, win in Jacksonville.

The Gators led, 13-6, at halftime and entered the fourth quarter trailing by just one. With Georgia up seven and just under four minutes to play, Gator third string quarterback Aidan Warner was picked off by Georgia’s CJ Allen. The Bulldogs punched it in a minute later to take a 14-point lead and close the door on a gusty effort by Florida.

DJ Lagway started the game at quarterback for Florida but was carted off in the second quarter with the Gators leading 10-3. Warner played the rest of the way.

The Gators, 4-4, intercepted Carson Beck three times and gave themselves a chance to beat the Bulldogs for just the third time in Kirby Smart’s nine years as the Georgia head coach.

The Bulldogs, 7-1, will travel to Ole Miss next weekend for a Top 20 matchup. The Gators will await word on Lagway, who returned to the sideline on crutches in the second half. With or without the freshman quarterback, Florida takes a trip to Texas next weekend to play the No. 6 Longhorns. LSU travels to Florida the following week.
