Hear Me Out: Georgia edition

Hear me out, nothing is wrong with Georgia. The idea that Georgia has fallen off a cliff this season because they are 7-2 is, to be blunt, comically stupid.
Sure, the offense isn’t as prolific as it’s been in recent years. The defense isn’t as dominant as it was in 2021. Losing 42 NFL draft picks including 11 first rounders over the last four years will do that to a team.
But, nothing is wrong with Georgia.
They’re playing the hardest schedule in the country. We have been so conditioned to see the Dawgs be dominant no matter what that we can’t fathom that maybe they don’t suck. Maybe Saturday’s game against Tennessee is their fifth game against a top 15 opponent, and it’s also their fourth against a team currently ranked in the top 11. Also, the Tennessee game was the first one of those they played at home in Sanford Stadium.
In fact, until Saturday, they hadn’t played a single game at home in over a month.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to make excuses for Georgia. I would guarantee that Kirby Smart wouldn’t either. But, we conditioned ourselves into this inaccurate and unfair pedestal that we put Georgia on. When we metaphorically passed them the torch as the next dynasty from Nick Saban and Alabama, it made our ability to assess them even less efficient.
It’s hard to win football games. It’s really hard to win games in the SEC. So, hear me out when I say I’m going to have to wait to jump on the “Something is wrong with Kirby Smart and Georgia” bandwagon for now. At least until they lose to someone that isn’t a playoff contending, top ten ranking deserving, absolute wagon of a team to everyone else. Not just Georgia.
