Huepel optimistic about Iamaleava’s status for Georgia

Tennessee heads to Athens this Saturday to play Georgia. But on Tuesday, their head coach Josh Heupel gave an update on whether or not their starting quarterback would potentially be playing.
Nico Iamaleava was injured in the second quarter against Mississippi State. And while he was able to come back in for the next series, he sat out the second half to avoid any further damage.
“He was with us today,” Heupel said of Iamaleava Monday afternoon. “He had a really good day. Feel like he’ll be in great shape for Saturday, but you guys can monitor the injury report on Wednesday and track it through the week.”
Iamaleava and the Tennessee offense have struggled to consistently put up big numbers this season. However, he finally connected on several big plays Saturday against Mississippi State going 8-of-13 for 174 yards and two touchdowns. On the season he’s completed over 65 percent of his passes, totaled over 2000 yards offensively and accounted for 12 touchdowns.
Tennessee’s backup, should Iamaleava be unavailable, is senior Gaston Moore who has played sparingly throughout the season going 16-of-25 for 201 yards and two touchdowns in mop up duty.
