LSU’s 2025 interior defensive line got a boost Thursday.
Senior Jacobian Guillory announced on The Jordy Culotta Show that he would be returning for a sixth season in 2025. Guillory suffered a season-ending Achilles tendon tear in the home opener against Nicholls.
“I want to come back for another season, because what I’ve fought for at LSU, I can’t just let it end like that,” Guillory said. “Coming back for another season is big for not only me, but it’s big for my family, big for Alexandria back home. It’s just big for everybody. So, I’m saying I’m coming back.”
Guillory, entered the season as LSU’s most experienced Southeastern Conference defensive tackle. In four-plus seasons as a Tiger, Guillory has played in 41 games with five starts. He’s made 52 total tackles and two tackles for loss.
In 2023, he played behind future NFL Draft picks Maason Smith, Mekhi Wingo and Jordan Jefferson. Entering the spring and eventually fall of 2024, Guillory emerged as a leader on a Tiger front loaded with new additions.
Guillory’s loss has forced LSU to lean on inexperienced tackles like Gio Paez and Paris Shand, both of whom have moved inside from defensive end. True freshman Ahmad Breaux has logged the third most snaps at tackle.
Paez and Shand are out of eligibility following the season, so Guillory’s return will bolster the experience of the group as Breaux and fellow freshman Dominick McKinley continue their development. Junior Grand Valley State transfer Jay’viar Suggs has also shown some pass rush ability in his limited snaps.
Guillory has earned his degree from LSU in sport administration.
