Kamara sick, Lattimore set to debut against former team
METAIRIE, La – The New Orleans Saints and Washington Commanders have released their first injury reports of Week 14. For the Saints, one key absence stood out, but the report shows no cause for concern. As for the Commanders, a new cornerback looks ready to make his first start against his former team and a big loss at wide receiver could have a major impact on the Washington passing game.
Here is the information from Wednesday’s injury report:
New Orleans Saints
Did Not Participate:
QB Derek Carr (Left Hand/Concussion)
RB Alvin Kamara (Illness)
LB D’Marco Jackson (Ankle)
Limited Participation:
WR Bub Means (Ankle)
TE Juwan Johnson (Foot)
Full Participation:
DE Tanoh Kpassagnon (Achilles)
No surprises here for New Orleans as Carr is still in concussion protocol and recovering from his hand injury. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi said that the team will not be placing him on Injured Reserve nor ending his season. He will continue to be day-to-day.
The Saints will not appoint their starting quarterback until later in the week, Rizzi announced after practice.
Kamara was a shock when it came to those missing from practice, but it turns out he was only out due to illness, not injury. That should be good news for the Saints assuming his illness isn’t too significant. The Saints will need their run game against the Commanders.
Washington Commanders
Did Not Participate:
WR Noah Brown (Kidney)
TE Zach Ertz (Hamstring/NIR (Rest))
Clelin Ferrell (Knee/NIR(Rest))
Limited Participation:
K Zane Gonzalez (Left Foot)
S Quan Martin (Shoulder)
Full Participation:
WR Jamison Crowder (Calf)
OLB Dante Fowler Jr. (Groin)
CB Noah Igbinoghene (Thumb)
CB Marshon Lattimore (Hamstring)
LB Jordan Magee (Elbow)
T Andrew Wylie (Gameday CPE)
The loss of Brown is a big one for the Commanders. They’ll have to find a way to replace him and add another pass-catching threat opposite Terry McLaurin. The team certainly has options on the roster but has not been able to get a consistent third wideout going this season.
Lattimore, who the Saints traded to Washington at the trade deadline, has not made his debut yet. But that is expected to change this week as the Commanders come to New Orleans. The 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year practiced in full on Wednesday.
