NEW ORLEANS — It was a costly loss on Sunday for the New Orleans Saints not only on the scoreboard but for the health of their team as well. The Saints were expecting to be without starting center Erik McCoy, who will miss the next 6-8 weeks following surgery brought upon by a groin injury. But several other important pieces were absent during Wednesday’s practice.
Per ESPN’s Katherine Terrell, the surgery is scheduled for Wednesday.
Here is the attendance information from the portion of practice that was open to the media
Not Seen:
CB Alontae Taylor
RB Alvin Kamara
OL Cesar Ruiz
OL Erik McCoy
Observing:
RB Kendre Miller
LB Demario Davis
Wednesday morning, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported that the team signed veteran offensive lineman Chris Reed. That likely means a veteran lineman was also moved up from the practice squad to the active roster. Versatile interior player Shane Lemieux would make a lot of sense as that candidate. Likely filling what will be a vacated spot once McCoy presumably goes to Injured Reserve.
An injury report will be released Wednesday afternoon with more injury information and participation notes.
