Kentucky QB Vandagriff retires from football

Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff announced he will be retiring from football early Sunday afternoon. Vandagriff confirmed the news through a Kentucky spokesperson.
The former five-star recruit began his career at Georgia but entered the transfer portal and ended up at Kentucky in early 2024. Vandagriff played in 11 games this season but struggled for most of the year. He finished with 1,593 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and eight interceptions as the Wildcats limped to a 4-8 record.
Vandagriff was a redshirt junior out of the 2021 recruiting cycle where he was the fifth ranked quarterback prospect behind players like Quinn Ewers, Drake Maye and Caleb Williams.
Kentucky started true freshman quarterback Cutter Boley in the regular season finale against rival Louisville. The Wildcats also signed former Texas A&M and Auburn quarterback Zach Calzada from the transfer portal earlier this December.
