Oklahoma is turning to a familiar face to help revitalize its offense, bringing back former offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson — the architect of the record-setting 2008 Sooners offense — as an offensive analyst for the 2025 season.

Wilson’s return is part of a complete offensive overhaul for the Sooners as they head into the 2025 season. The changes began with the hiring of new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle from Washington State and bringing in one of the top players in the transfer portal, quarterback John Mateer.

Wilson was the architect of the 2008 Oklahoma offense that still ranks as the best in program history. That season, the Sooners scored 716 points — an NCAA record at the time — and were led by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and future No. 1 overall draft pick Sam Bradford.

Wilson will work alongside Arbuckle to help rebuild an Oklahoma offense that was the worst the program had seen in the last two decades. The Sooners’ passing attack ranked 119th in yards per game and 128th in yards per attempt last season.
