LSU adds 2026 RHP Lawson McLeod

Recruiting never stops, and Jay Johnson added to the pitching pipeline Sunday with the addition of 2026 right-handed hurler Lawson McLeod.

Already standing at 6-foot-6 and 215 lbs. as a high school junior, McLeod has been clocked at 93 miles per hour with his fastball.

“I am truly blessed to announce my commitment to Louisiana State University,” McLeod posted on his social media profiles. “I could not have gotten here without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family, coaches, teammates, and friends. Thanks to coach Johnson for the opportunity to be part of the best environment in all of college baseball let’s get it Baton rouge! GEUAX Tigahs!!!”

The 16-year-old has a couple of years to brush up on his Cajun spelling of “geaux”, but he’s dripping with potential as a power pitcher.

LSU begins full squad fall practices October 10.
