LSU climbs to No. 8 in latest AP poll

The week eight AP Poll has been released, and after the biggest weekend of the year so far in college football the contenders are starting to emerge. Texas remained at No. 1 after their dominating, 34-3 ,win over rival Oklahoma. Behind the Longhorns are three teams from the Big Ten with Ohio State dropping only one spot after their one-point loss at Oregon.
New faces in the top ten include LSU who climbed to No. 8 after their thrilling overtime win against Ole Miss, as well as Iowa State at No. 9, who is 6-0 for the first time since 1938. Both Army and Navy are ranked for the first time since 1960 as both teams are undefeated and legitimate contenders for the Group of Five spot in this year’s playoff.
Eight SEC teams were included in this week’s poll. However, the one team that wasn’t, Vanderbilt, feels like the biggest miss from the 62 voters in the poll.
