LSU basketball continued its international momentum on Thursday.

Matt McMahon’s program added a commitment from forward Marcus Vaughns who hails from Australia.

Vaughns stands 6-foot-8 and had opportunities to play professionally in his homeland. Ultimately, he chose to venture to the United States to pursue college.

LSU assistant David Patrick has deep roots in Australia. He moved there at age 10 and played for the Australian national team briefly before moving back to America and playing high school basketball in Baton Rouge. He was a huge influence in getting Ben Simmons, the most notable Australian recruit in the program’s history, to LSU. His relationship with Vaughns’ family dates back years.

Vaughns, a native of Melbourne, has participated in the NBA’s Global Academy and is a member of the 2026 signing class. He joins 2025 addition Ron Zipper from Israel as international pledges in the last month for McMahon’s program.
