LSU Spring Football Report: March 12

The assembled media got a first look at the 2025 Tigers Wednesday morning on The Ponderosa.
Temperatures in the mid-50s were a welcome change of pace from the triple digit August heat that is sure to smother Fall Camp in five months.
The Tigers wore shells (helmets and shoulder pads) for the workout, and the media got 25 minutes to observe from the players’ lounge balcony.
FIRST UNIT
LSU’s first team offense took the field first for some dry reps with no defense.
Tyree Adams, Paul Mubenga, DJ Chester, Bo Bordelon and Weston Davis made up the first offensive line left to right. Interesting to see Chester at center with the 1s instead of Braelin Moore who was with the 2s.
The first team skill players were Chris Hilton, Aaron Anderson and Zavion Thomas out wide with Trey’Dez Green at tight end. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and running back Caden Durham rounded out the first group.
The second team followed with Michael Van Buren taking snaps and Kaleb Jackson at tailback.
The offensive line left to right was:
Carius Curne, Soloman Thomas, Braelin Moore, Coen Echols and Ethan Calloway.
Curne getting reps at tackle was an interesting look. He’s 6-foot-5 and 335 lbs. That’s a load at left tackle.
Bauer Sharp played tight end, and the wide receivers were Destyn Hill, Barion Brown and Kyle Parker who was in a red “no-contact” jersey as he recovers from the triceps injury that cut his season short.
Nic Anderson, the Oklahoma transfer, was not in a red jersey but did not join a group for that drill. He had a hip/quad issue that cost him nearly all of 2024.
QB CREW
Ju’Juan Johnson did work exclusively with the quarterbacks as the third option. When he entered the drill with the two, he ran traditional two-minute offense. There was no read option element or designed quarterback run. He threw the ball down the field just like Nussmeier and Van Buren.
WATCHFUL EYE
Kyle Williams was working with his defensive tackles on the far field. It was difficult to discern any significant coaching or performance, but one thing was abundantly clear, Brian Kelly never left the group.
The head coach stood about 15 yards away from the defensive tackle drills and never left while the media was observing.
WEEKS OFF
As expected, Whit Weeks was not at practice. He suffered a broken leg in the Texas Bowl and is rehabbing. Same goes for Harold Perkins. Brian Kelly said both will be ready for June.
