Lucas Patrick active in Kansas City, Hill and Gay Jr among inactives

KANSAS CITY – With the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs set to kickoff soon, the Saints have announced which players will be inactive for the matchup. With five players already ruled out and their typical emergency third quarterback choice, this one was pretty easy to guess. However, one surprise name is rookie defensive tackle Khristian Boyd.

Here are the Saints’ inactive players against the Chiefs:

LB Willie Gay Jr. (Hand)

TE Taysom Hill (Rib)

QB Spencer Rattler (Third QB)

LB Pete Werner (Hamstring)

OL Cesar Ruiz (Knee)

DT Khristian Boyd

DE Payton Turner (Knee)

The Saints also sent offensive lineman Shane Lemieux to injured reserve earlier today. He doesn’t count in the inactives number. Running back Kendre Miller is also ruled out, but he is technically still within his Injured Reserve practice window.

Five of the seven inactive players were already ruled out before Monday due to injuries. Offensive lineman Lucas Patrick was listed as questionable coming in but is active for the game. Whether or not he will start currently remains to be seen. He may be healthy enough to be an emergency option, but not to be thrown out on the field immediately. New Orleans has made similar decisions around players already this season.
