McIlroy, Lowry to defend Zurich title

The biggest star in professional golf is coming back to New Orleans.
Rory McIlroy will once again team up with Shane Lowry to defend their title at the Zurich Classic in April, the tournament announced on Thursday.
McIlroy won four times worldwide last season and got off to a roaring start in 2025 with a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am where he defeated Lowry by two shots. He’s currently ranked No. 3 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Since joining the PGA Tour in 2010, McIlroy has won 27 times stateside and 11 more times on the DP World Tour. He’s a five-time major champion and three-time PGA Tour Player of the Year.
Lowry scored six Top 10 finishes last season in addition to the win at the Zurich. He’s also a major champion having won the Open Championship in 2019 at Royal Portrush.
