Missouri QB Cook’s status uncertain for Alabama game, RB Noel reportedly out

Missouri quarterback Brady Cook’s health is one of the main focal points of this weekend, as the Tigers head to Tuscaloosa for a ranked matchup against Alabama. According to head coach Eli Drinkwitz, Cook’s status is still uncertain.
Drinkwitz seems to be playing it pretty close to the vest this week, even canceling Tuesday’s viewing period for local and national media.
“Oh, I don’t know if I’d say participate. I anticipate that he will be out at practice, but that’s why I’m not letting you be at practice so that y’all can’t worry about what he’s doing or not doing in practice,” said Drinkwitz.
Cook left Saturday’s game against Auburn after the second series with an ankle injury that is believed to be a high ankle sprain despite any confirmations. Cook received X-rays and an MRI before returning late in the third quarter to lead Missouri to an incredible, 21-17 comeback win over the other Tigers.
Cook has started 34 games in his career and has nearly 5,000 yards of total offense and 40 total touchdowns over the last two seasons. Backup quarterback, and former Notre Dame transfer, Drew Pyne is expected to start in his place if Cook can’t go Saturday against Alabama.
While Cook’s status is up in the air, Missouri’s leading rusher will reported miss the contest. ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting Nate Noel will miss Saturday’s game with a foot injury suffered in the first half against Auburn. If the Appalachian State transfer is unavailable, he would likely be replaced by senior Marcus Carroll who has rushed for 321 yards and six touchdowns this season.
The Tigers and Tide will meet in Tuscaloosa at 2:30 p.m. on ABC.
