LSU gymnast and social media sensation Olivia Dunne announced her retirement from competitive gymnastics with an emotional video posted to her X (formerly Twitter) account.

Dunne, 21, reflected on her journey in the sport, highlighting the years of hard work, sacrifice, and unforgettable memories. The video showed clips from her childhood days training in the gym, her time competing on the national stage, and her standout moments with LSU Gymnastics.

“To the little girl who fell in love with the sport, I hope I made you proud,” Dunne said in the video, “It’s time to close this chapter.”

Dunne has been one of the most recognizable figures in college athletics, both for her impact on the mat and her groundbreaking success in the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) era. She helped LSU reach new heights in the sport’s popularity while also serving as an inspiration for young athletes across the country.

Though she’s retiring from competition, Dunne made it clear she isn’t stepping away from the sport she loves. She thanked her teammates, coaches, and fans for their unwavering support.

“My gymnastics journey may be ending,” she said, “but my love for the sport and the memories I’ve made will last a lifetime.”
