Only three SEC teams in CFP field after upsets
11/26/2024
The latest edition of the college football playoff rankings have been unveiled and the week 13 chaos greatly affected the current rankings.
There were no major changes in the top four. Once again, the SEC is desperately trying to figure out if they will be able to plug a fourth team into the bracket, but as of right now the best conference in the country seemingly traded money and regular season ratings for a fourth team in the playoff field. Thanks a lot, Greg Sankkey.
The reason they are going to have one less team–besides conference cannibalism–is the ACC, which went from having Miami be it’s lone potential representative in the field to now having three potential candidates for two spots. Miami and SMU are firmly in, with Clemson hanging on to the 12th spot.
The SEC is in striking distance if there is more chaos during rivalry week with Alabama, Ole Miss, and South Carolina all ranking between No. 13 through No. 15. Despite being ranked No. 20 overall, Texas A&M still has a path to getting in if they beat Texas this week and win the SEC Championship the week after.
Here are the top 25 teams in this week’s rankings with the SEC teams in bold.
