Patrick, Williams absent from Saints Friday practice

NEW ORLEANS — It was a very steady week of New Orleans Saints practices. No in-practice injuries, which caused the team a lot of grief earlier in the season. While no new names popped up throughout the week, there looks to be little progress in getting missing players back on the other hand. So it may be likely New Orleans will again be without a couple players in Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns.
Here is the attendance from the portion of Friday’s Saints practice that was open to the media, per NOLA.com’s Luke Johnson:
Not Seen:
RB Jamaal Williams (Groin)
G Lucas Patrick (Ankle)
Observing:
LB Pete Werner
The best news for the Saints is that rookie cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry and veteran center Erik McCoy were both still active and participating throughout the week.
With Werner not participating, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him listed as questionable. That would at least give him a shot to be evaluated pregame before a final decision is made. But if linebacker Nephi Sewell makes his return to the active roster this week, he and Willie Gay Jr. should be able to hold down the linebacker spots alongside Demario Davis.
The Saints and Browns will release their final injury reports this afternoon, which will include game designations.
