Alvarado joins an almost impossibly long list of injured Pelicans. Zion Williamson was announced out indefinitely over the weekend with a hamstring injury. Dejounte Murray fractured his hand in the season opener. Herb Jones, CJ McCollum and Jordan Hawkins are all out due to injury as well.
With much of the starting lineup unavailable, Alvarado had picked up the slack. On the season, he’s averaging 10 points and four assists in 25 minutes per game. He had seen his minutes and production spike in the last week, with two 20-plus point games.
New Orleans (3-8) has lost five straight games and eight of their last nine. Only the Utah Jazz have a worse record among Western Conference teams. The Pelicans return to the floor Wednesday at Oklahoma City.
