Report: Olave may not play again in 2024

NEW ORLEANS, La. — New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave may be shut down for the season. 

After suffering a vicious shot to the head and neck area that led to Olave being carted off on a backboard against the Carolina Panthers last week, the young wideout was diagnosed with his fourth confirmed concussion of his three-year NFL career. 

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Olave sought the advice of specialists and the team’s record, and it is unlikely that he takes the field again in 2024. 

Interim Head Coach Darren Rizzi made it very clear that the team’s is concerned far more with Olave’s health than his on-field impact. 

The expectation has very much been that Olave’s season had likely come to an end. Rizzi was also clear in his Friday media availability that Injured Reserve was indeed a possibility. That is expected to made official when Saturday roster moves are announced in the afternoon. 

From there, it all becomes about getting healthy, putting in the word advised by the specialists, and looking ahead to 2025.
